Red Wolf 2411m(foxy) and 8 pups May 9th 2026 Sunrise I’ve had the privilege of watching many Red wolves grow up, but this one is special. This is 2411m, better known to us here as Foxy. He’s with his 3 1/2 week old pups that totaled 8 when these were taken. Now only 7 remain. When I found these pups I knew USFWS was unaware of this new den location based on its close proximity to the road and lack of vegetation cover. I called the Red Wolf Team but, we had to wait till Monday until USFWS could get out there and close the roads. 2411m’s story is truly an inspirational one. My last memory of him in Alligator River area was of him and his deceased brother 2410m taking care of their younger siblings after the loss of their father. Then one day he just disappeared, then reappeared months later in Pocosin area where is a smaller population of red wolves live. This was a historic moment because he could have ended up anywhere, but he didn’t. He ended up right where he was needed. Now he is the proud father of 7 continuing to raise hope for all of us in this critically endangered species.
